When visiting Tempo, a department store that you could find in almost any swedish city during the 60´s and 70´s, buying records you could walk away with your purchase in this kind of paperbag, hip and cool ain´t it?

Edward Vesala A theme by Braun Astronette

Here´s one that you may find some info about elsewhere on the net, however I just have to display it as I think it is such an intresting gem, released in Finland in 1973 as an advertising record for Braun.
Edward Vesala on drums and those drums are kicking hard, hard funk hammond groove with jazz influences, simply a very nice tune.

Finnish Jazz Gallery The winners 1961

The Winners of the Jazz composition contest 1961 in Helsinki/ Finland.
Åke Granholm´s tune " love all" is brilliant, smooth but yet in the same style as Lars Lystedt´s the runner.
One of the most amazing clubjazz tracks I have heard for a long time.

Egil Monn Iversen Jazz in Norway

Jazz from Norway has always been difficult to find and in terms of rare this one has to be one of the toughest to find.

Johnny Teupen Mälar midnight EP

A totally unknown ep for me, pressed in Norway but has to be considered a swedish record.
I can´t find any info regarding this one elsewhere.

Jan Lööf Konstfackjazz Bossanova

When beeing a youngster in the early 70´s in Sweden, I spent a lot of time reading Jan Lööf´s comic albums about Felix, therefore this 7" recorded 1962 feels so special for me.
His childrenbooks are bestsellers and children of all ages love them, too bad his career as a jazzmusician ended with just one single.

Schitzis Jazz The thre B´s

In 1963, Stockholm/Sweden, three 16ýear old guys took a day of school and went into a studio in the "old town" where they offered young musicians to get in the studio and the same day leave with a record in the hand, they recorded this freejazz 7" wich sounds a lot like Charlie Parker" but with one foot in the 60´s american free jazz movement.
It only exists one copy of this record and it is a miracle it has survived.

In Sweden we have a special bread called "knäckebröd", here you can see a package that came in a very limited edition , actually limited to one.
Imagine to have it available in supermarkets, would sell well in Japan.
This exclusive package was made by Tom Sörhuus, you can find more of his work here: http://www.monsundesign.se/
For some of you his name might ring a bell, yes it is the son of the founder of Birkajazz, wich is one of the finest place on the net to find rare and out of print jazz records: http://www.birkajazz.com/
